Chapter 7

The Dungeon of Light and the Master Melody

Chapter 7 illustration
Read in Alfie Mode

The Black Dragon’s Foot glided through glowing green mist toward Zone 5: The Zelda Circuit—a floating forest planet filled with ancient ruins, fireflies made of pixels, and giant stone owls that blinked every few minutes.

Alfie leaned over the edge of the ship and gasped.

“It looks just like the world in The Legend of Zelda!
That’s when a voice behind him said—

“That’s because it is.”

A boy in a green tunic and hover-boots landed on deck with a flip. He held a magical ocarina in one hand and a glowing Hylian shield in the other.

“I’m Charlie, guardian of the Zelda Circuit. This zone is no joke—it has puzzles, traps, music challenges, and maybe even a laser-eyed cucco or two.”

“Are those chickens dangerous?” asked Nutters.

Charlie just nodded… very slowly.

The crew followed Charlie through the pixelated forest toward the entrance of the Dungeon of Light—a glowing stone temple covered in ancient symbols and vines that whispered riddles.

Charlie handed Alfie a music box carved from pixel wood.

“This will help you find the Master Melody, the key to completing this dungeon. But only a true adventurer can hear it.”

“Does being a banana-loving, space-dancing hero count?” asked Alfie.

Charlie smiled. “That’s pretty close.”

Inside, the dungeon tested them at every turn.

🧩 A room with stepping stones that lit up in different Zelda theme songs.
Alfie had to step in the right order to play the Song of Light.

🗝️ A hallway filled with bouncing Deku Nuts and invisible walls.
McDonalds accidentally bounced through all of them yelling, “BOING!”

💡 A chamber where Zorgabella sang harmonies to match glowing notes floating through the air.

Finally, they reached the Melody Gate—a massive door with ten glowing locks, each shaped like a musical note.

Alfie held the music box and took a deep breath.
He closed his eyes… and began to turn the crank.

Ding… da-ding… da-ding-ding… DING!

The music matched perfectly with Charlie’s ocarina.
One by one, the locks clicked open.

The final note echoed through the dungeon and the Master Melody lit up the entire room—shimmering gold and silver notes danced in the air like fireflies.

At the center of it all floated the Zelda Circuit Badge.

Charlie gave Alfie a fist bump.
“You’ve got a good heart, a smart brain… and a surprisingly good sense of rhythm.”

“You’re staying with us, right?” Alfie asked.

Charlie grinned. “As long as there are mysteries to solve and chicken monsters to dodge—I’m in.”

Suddenly, Blip Blop’s eyes blinked red.

“WARNING: Intrusion detected. New villain approaching… from the Mortal Kombat Zone.”

The crew turned just in time to see a portal open… and a shadowy figure step through.

A cape. A mask. And a trail of pixel smoke.

“You may have won in light,” the voice rasped,
“But can you survive… the Tournament of Shadows?”
