The Black Dragon’s Foot glided silently through the syrupy shadows of space.

Inside, the crew was quiet. Too quiet.

Captain Skull Fire sat in his command chair, staring at the feather they’d found in the crater where Jinko Starflap had fallen. It still glowed with a hint of stardust.

“We’ll get him back,” whispered Zorgabella, patting the feather gently with one tentacle.

Nutters McGee was pacing, chewing his tail in frustration.

But Blip Blop… was humming. Loudly. And sparking.

Suddenly—ZAP!—his eyes glowed purple.

“Captain…” Blip Blop said in a voice not quite his own, “I see him.”

“See who?” asked Skull Fire, springing up.

“Jinko. He’s deep beneath the Cake Moon, inside the ancient sponge caverns. He’s being held… by Lord Crumblethor.

Everyone gasped.

“Who?” asked Nutters, tail quivering.

Zorgabella shivered. “The myth… the master of the Maze Layers. A powerful cake-being from the time of the Frosting Wars.

Blip Blop blinked. “He won’t release Jinko unless we solve his… Pudding Trials.”

The crew descended through a sticky jelly tunnel, spiraling down into the Layers of the Lost Cake.

Each level was trickier than the last.

Layer One: The Maze of Marshmallow Mirrors

They entered a chamber full of mirrors that showed reflections of the past. Each wrong turn made them relive embarrassing moments.

“Oh no,” groaned Skull Fire, watching himself accidentally glue his helmet on backwards.

But Blip Blop—still glowing—waved a hand and the mirrors parted like curtains.

“Whoa,” said Nutters. “Are you… magic now?”

“I think…” Blip Blop said slowly, “the Time Truffle awakened something inside me.”

Layer Two: The Puzzle of Infinite Cupcakes

In the next room, thousands of cupcakes floated in zero-gravity.

One of them had the clue to the next chamber. The others… were exploding distractions.

Nutters sniffed each one, tail twitching.

“Nope… nope… Eww, broccoli frosting—definitely not… AH-HA!”

He bit one—and a holographic key popped out.

“YES! I knew my sniffer would come in handy someday!”

Layer Three: The Maze That Solves You

This one was strange. It wasn’t made of walls—it was made of questions.

As they moved forward, glowing symbols floated around them:

“What is your greatest fear?”
“What makes you brave?”
“Why do you fight?”

Zorgabella sang her answers in a haunting melody.
Nutters just shouted, “Because I LIKE PEANUTS!”

Blip Blop closed his glowing eyes and whispered: “Because my friends would do it for me.”

With that, the maze shimmered and vanished, revealing a final door made of crystalline sugar.

They stepped inside to find…
A giant cake throne.
And on it sat a towering being made of ancient crumb and dark icing—Lord Crumblethor.

He wore a crown of peppermint shards.
His voice rumbled like a hungry volcano.

“You solved the trials. Impressive. But Jinko stays… unless you solve… the FINAL RIDDLE.”

Jinko, tied in licorice chains behind him, shouted, “Guys! He cheats at riddles! I saw him practice in a mirror!”

“Silence!” boomed Crumblethor.

He stood, eyes glowing. “Answer me this, space fools…”

“I am eaten every year, but never digested. I am cut, shared, sung to, and sometimes topped with fire. What am I?”

The crew froze.

Nutters whispered, “A singing fire ghost?”

Zorgabella guessed, “The Candle King of Planet Yumm?”

Captain Skull Fire shook his head… then smiled.

“I know this one,” he said quietly.

“A birthday cake.”

Crumblethor’s eyes widened. The room shook. Then—POP!—he vanished in a cloud of chocolate mist.

The chains dropped from Jinko. “YES! You did it!”

Back on the ship, the crew hugged Jinko tight.

Blip Blop’s hands still glowed faintly.

“I think I have powers now,” he said. “I don’t know how… but something’s coming. Something BIG.”

Captain Skull Fire nodded slowly.
“The riddle was just the beginning. Whatever this mystery is… we’re in the middle of it.”
