The Tournament of Worlds had tested Alfie and his crew in every way—sumo duels, cactus armies, and endless shadow battles. But now the arena went silent, the stars dimmed, and the ground cracked open to reveal the greatest enemy yet: Prickly Pear, the Shadow Sumo Demon.
Prickly Pear towered over everyone, his body covered in thorny cactus spines that glowed an eerie green. With every stomp of his massive feet, the arena shook. His voice boomed like thunder:
“ALFIE… YOU TOOK MY SPIKES AS A CHILD. NOW, I WILL RETURN THEM… ONE BY ONE!”
Spines launched from his body like rockets, embedding themselves into the ground around the crew.
“Steady!” shouted Captain Skull Fire, flames licking his skull. “This is the battle we’ve been waiting for.”
Just then, a streak of neon light cut across the arena. It was Eoin, Alfie’s best mate, blasting into the fight with his glowing laser tag armor and blaster. He skidded to a stop beside Alfie, his vest glowing like a shield.
“Need a sharpshooter?” Eoin grinned.
Alfie smirked. “Perfect timing, mate. Let’s finish this.”
The fight began. Skull Fire breathed dragon flames that scorched the air, Charlie swung his Zelda compass light to reveal Prickly Pear’s weak spots, and J.J. slashed with his shining sword. Penny and Laragh’s glowing braids wrapped around spines, pulling them loose before they struck.
But Prickly Pear was fast—too fast for his size. He teleported across the arena, appearing behind Skull Fire, then in front of Alfie, launching a flurry of thorny strikes.
“Shizuki Ich!” Alfie blocked, sparks flying.
“Shizuki Ni!” He countered, driving Prickly Pear back a step.
“Shizuki San!” A powerful strike shook the arena, but still the demon laughed.
Then Eoin’s laser blaster lit up. “Got your weak spot, big guy!” He fired, and glowing red marks appeared on Prickly Pear’s cactus armor, just like with the shadow wraiths.
“Alfie, NOW!” Eoin yelled.
Alfie’s eyes burned with determination. He charged forward, kata strikes smashing into the glowing weak points Eoin had revealed. Each hit cracked Prickly Pear’s armor.
The demon roared. “I AM ETERNAL!”
But Captain Skull Fire leapt high, roaring: “Not when you’re burned to cinders!” He unleashed a torrent of dragon flame, and at the same time, Alfie and Eoin launched their final combo attack—kata and laser in perfect sync.
Prickly Pear screamed as his cactus body shattered, exploding into a storm of glowing green embers that rained across the galaxy.
The arena was silent. Then—cheers erupted from the alien crowds. Alfie stood tall, sweat on his brow, as Eoin fist-bumped him.
“Mate,” Eoin said, “that was epic.”
Skull Fire grinned, his eye flames glowing. “The Tournament isn’t over yet… but with warriors like this, victory is closer than ever.”
And far off in the galaxy, in the shadow of another world, new villains were already preparing their next move…
To be continued…
