The ground shook with every thunderous step the Discordant Three took toward them. Alfie could see them clearly now—three massive instruments twisted into monstrous shapes. A drum kit had grown spider-like legs and gnashing teeth. A grand piano had become a prowling beast with keys like fangs. And worst of all, a pipe organ loomed behind them like a walking castle of chaos, belching clouds of ear-splitting noise.
"They're going to destroy everything!" Melody shouted over the cacophony. "The stage, the instruments, the whole dimension!"
Discord Dan stood beside Alfie, clutching the Flame Pick he'd just returned. His purple face had gone pale. "I... I created them," he admitted, his voice cracking. "When I was angriest. I poured all my loneliness into sound, and they were born from it. I never meant for them to become this."
Dad put a steady hand on Alfie's shoulder. "What do you think, buddy? Got any ideas?"
Alfie's heart was pounding so hard he could feel it in his ears. The Discordant Three were getting closer. The Reunion Concert stage stood behind them—the beautiful platform where all the dimensions' music was supposed to come together. If those monsters reached it...
Then something clicked in Alfie's mind.
"Wait," he said slowly. "Dan, you made them from angry sound, right? From chaos?"
Dan nodded miserably.
"But chaos is just... music that hasn't found its rhythm yet!" Alfie's eyes went bright. "What if we don't fight them? What if we play with them?"
"Play with them?" Melody looked at the approaching monsters doubtfully. "They'll squash us flat!"
"The Infinite Brick showed me something," Alfie said, pulling the glowing brick from his pocket. It pulsed warmly in his palm. "Every dimension is connected. Every emotion too. These monsters aren't evil—they're just lost. Like Dan was!"
Discord Dan's eyes widened with understanding. "The boy's right. They need direction, not destruction."
"Then let's give them a concert they'll never forget!" Dad grinned, picking up a guitar from the stage. "I should warn you all—I only know three chords, and two of them are wrong."
Despite everything, Alfie laughed. That was Dad. Always making things feel safe, even when they really, really weren't.
Musicians from across the dimension began gathering—the Brass Brigade, the String Symphony, even the shy Percussion Pixies emerged from their hiding spots. Melody raised her conductor's baton, her hands trembling but determined.
"Everyone!" Alfie shouted, climbing onto the stage. "We play together! One sound, one heart, one dimension!"
The Drum Monster reached them first, its legs crashing down like thunderbolts. But instead of screaming, the Percussion Pixies began matching its rhythm—boom, boom, CRASH—turning destruction into a beat.
The Piano Beast lunged, but the String Symphony swept in with a melody so beautiful that the monster actually paused, its key-fangs chattering in confusion before slowly... harmonising.
And the Pipe Organ? Discord Dan stepped forward himself, the Flame Pick blazing in his hand. He played a single, searing note that cut through the chaos—not fighting the monster, but inviting it to join.
Alfie closed his eyes and held the Infinite Brick high. He could feel all the emotions swirling—fear, hope, loneliness, joy—and instead of pushing any away, he let them blend together like instruments in an orchestra.
The music that erupted from that stage was unlike anything any dimension had ever heard. Wild and gentle. Chaotic and beautiful. The Discordant Three stopped their rampage. Their monstrous forms began to shift, shrinking, softening, until they became what they'd always been meant to be—instruments, ordinary and extraordinary, settling peacefully onto the stage.
The crowd erupted in cheers.
"You did it!" Melody hugged Alfie so hard he squeaked.
"We did it," Alfie corrected, grinning at Dad, at Dan, at everyone.
But as the celebration swelled, the Infinite Brick suddenly flashed an urgent, pulsing red. Alfie looked down at it, his smile fading.
A voice whispered from within—ancient and worried.
"Guardian... something has followed you home. The music dimension was only the beginning. The breach is spreading. And what comes next... cannot be harmonised."
