The moment stretched like a rubber band about to snap. Alfie faced his Mirror Shadow—that wild, giggling, chaotic copy of himself that wouldn't sit still for even a second. The Hollow loomed behind them both, its dark emptiness spreading across the dojo floor like spilled ink.

"Give me the unfocused one," the Hollow whispered. "He doesn't belong with you anyway."

But something strange happened. The Hollow's voice cracked, and for just a moment, Alfie heard something underneath the darkness. Something... sad.

"Wait," Alfie said, holding up his hand. His Mirror Shadow stopped bouncing and tilted its head curiously. "You're not trying to hurt me, are you?"

The Hollow shuddered. The darkness around it flickered, and suddenly Alfie saw something he hadn't noticed before—a faint orange glow, like ember light, deep inside the swirling black.

"I... I just wanted..." The Hollow's form began to change, shrinking and solidifying until standing before them was a LEGO minifigure unlike any Alfie had seen. He had wild purple hair that stuck up like lightning bolts, silver drumsticks tucked into his belt, and the saddest eyes Alfie had ever seen.

"You're not a monster at all!" Dad exclaimed, stepping forward carefully.

"My name is Crash Cymbal," the figure said quietly. "I was the drummer for the greatest band in all the dimensions—the Galactic Sound Shifters. But when our music fell apart, I fell apart too. I became... that thing. The Hollow."

Alfie's Mirror Shadow zipped over and poked Crash Cymbal's arm, then giggled and hid behind Alfie.

"Why did your band fall apart?" Alfie asked.

Crash Cymbal slumped onto a nearby LEGO bench. "We had a terrible argument about the setlist for the Cosmic Concert. Strummer Blaze—our lead guitarist—wanted to play only fast songs. Harmony Groove—she sings like an angel—wanted slow ballads. Bass Drop Bob just wanted everyone to listen to his ideas for once, and Riff Rider, our rhythm guitarist, got so frustrated he threw his guitar into a black hole."

"That sounds awful," Alfie said softly.

"When the music stopped, the Music Dimension started breaking apart. My friends scattered across different realms, and I... I lost myself. I've been searching everywhere for someone who could help me find them again." Crash Cymbal looked at Alfie with sudden hope. "And then I sensed you."

"Me? Why me?"

"Because you have rhythm in your soul, Alfie. I could feel it when you played those drums in the water world, when you moved in perfect timing here in the dojo. You understand beats and patterns. You're a drummer."

Alfie felt his heart skip. It was true—he did love drumming on pots and pans at home, tapping rhythms on the kitchen table until Mum asked him to please stop before her head exploded.

"You need help putting your band back together," Alfie said slowly. "And you thought if you could catch my attention..."

"I went about it all wrong," Crash admitted. "I was so lost in the darkness that I forgot how to ask nicely. Kindness and compassion—that's what music is supposed to be about." A single LEGO tear rolled down his cheek.

Alfie looked at his Mirror Shadow, who was now air-drumming enthusiastically. Then he looked at Dad, who smiled and gave a tiny nod.

"We'll help you," Alfie said firmly.

"Really?" Crash Cymbal's eyes lit up brighter than a spotlight.

"Really. But first—" Alfie turned to his chaotic copy and held out his hand. "We need to work together. Both parts of me. The focused and the wild."

His Mirror Shadow grinned and high-fived him. There was a flash of orange light, and suddenly Alfie felt whole—calm but creative, disciplined but free.

"Whoa," Dad breathed. "You're glowing, mate!"

Alfie looked down. Orange light swirled around his hands like musical notes.

"Orange belt energy," Captain Skull Fire announced from the dojo doorway, bowing respectfully. "You've earned it by showing compassion to your enemy."

Crash Cymbal pulled out a shimmering map covered in musical notes. "The first band member—Strummer Blaze—is lost somewhere in the Melody Maze. Will you help me find her?"

Alfie grinned and gripped his new orange belt energy tight.

The Music Dimension was waiting.
